2025 was a year of growth for Stichting Soyka NL. Alongside continuing direct support for refugees, we worked on several larger, project-based initiatives together with international partners, while gradually professionalising how we manage funds and projects.
Below is a short, readable overview of what we did and how our finances looked in 2025.

What We Focused On in 2025
Targeted support for refugees
We continued providing direct, case-by-case assistance to refugees affected by the war in Ukraine and political repression in Russia. This included covering essential needs such as children’s items, sports equipment, household goods, and other practical support.
In total, 60 individual help requests were completed during the year. As before, much of this work relied on close coordination with volunteers and trusted partners to respond quickly to real needs.
Legal and information tools
In 2025, we completed work on the Legal Playbook for Russian Refugees, building on the Legal Survival Guide launched at the end of 2024. These materials focus on practical legal guidance and are fully funded through project-specific budgets, with all funds allocated to contracted specialists.
Independence Hub
One of our major project in 2025 was Independence Hub, an Erasmus+–funded initiative supporting displaced people from Ukraine in the Netherlands and Poland. The project focuses on integration, employability, and self-sufficiency through digital tools, practical knowledge, online workshops, and guidance on navigating legal, housing, employment, healthcare, education, and cultural systems.
Online Combat (Erasmus+)
We also joined Online Combat, an Erasmus+ initiative aimed at countering online misinformation and radicalisation, particularly among vulnerable adults with lower digital or media literacy. In 2025, the project was still in its preparatory phase. Active implementation is planned for 2026.
Voices of the Komi People
Soyka NL acted as an affiliate partner for Voices of the Komi People, a project led by a partner organization and focused on promoting Komi culture. Our role included support with content production, legal entity registration, and technical tools, enabling the project to operate sustainably.
How We Worked
In 2025, Soyka NL used its bank account actively to manage donations, partner transfers, and project expenses. Compared to previous years, we reduced—but did not fully eliminate—the practice of reimbursing expenses incurred by volunteers or partners.
In cases where standard invoices were not available, we verified that the assistance was delivered and used for its intended charitable purpose. Strengthening and standardising these processes remains a priority.
A Snapshot of the Numbers
In 2025, Soyka NL managed €84,500 in grants (including partner funds, which accounted for 54%) and €9,841.30 in individual donations.
All board members worked on a fully voluntary basis and received no remuneration for their time or responsibilities.
General and administrative costs were kept intentionally low. Expenses related mainly to banking fees and essential tools and amounted to €418.43 for the entire year.
Year-End Position
At the start of 2025, Soyka carried forward a balance of €5,012.21 from the previous year. By the end of 2025, the consolidated net result across all projects was €12,188.91. This amount will be carried forward, together with the opening balance, to support our work in 2026.
Looking Ahead to 2026
In 2026, our focus is on financial sustainability with flexibility. We plan to continue formalising how funds flow through the foundation while staying responsive to emerging needs.
Our funding strategy includes:
Growing individual donations and crowdfunding, primarily in the Netherlands and across Europe
Ongoing collaboration with partner organisations on joint and co-funded projects
Targeted applications for European and small-to-medium grants
Selective participation in project-based funding as an implementing or affiliate partner
We’re grateful to everyone who supported Soyka NL in 2025 — donors, partners, volunteers, and collaborators. Thank you all.
With love,
Stichting Soyka NL Board of Directors
